Creator Spotlight 2: Inside PolyMind Studio's Process

After episode n°1 with Ronin Arts Workshop, we sat down with the sculptor behind PolyMind Studio to talk about where his characters come from, which model was the hardest to pull off, and why he’s excited about Lychee. Here’s what he told us.

Lychee Team: What inspired you to start creating superhero comic-based characters?

Vinicius Cardoso aka Polymind Studio - "As a kid I've always liked drawing and creating my own characters. I also went through a phase where I was obsessed with animation, so when I discovered digital sculpting, it was kind of intuitive to start creating the characters I like in all those dynamic poses, applying all the movement that I've learned from animation to my sculpts."

Your Spider-Man model is already one of our users' favorites in the Library.

"Well, it's one of my favorites too. Maybe one of my favorites because it's part of a bigger composition with the whole Sinister Six, and it was an idea that took me several months to develop, and I really like how it turned out."

Which model are you most proud of?

"Well, I don't think I have just one favorite model, but maybe a set of them. This diorama of the Sinister Six is a project that I'm really proud of, because it was something that required me a lot of planning to make it work, not just as individual pieces but make it work with all of them together in just one composition."

Is there a model that was technically challenging to pull off?

"Maybe the Doctor Octopus from the Sinister Six. It was pretty complicated getting the model to stay balanced and to make the cuts for it to work."

What's your favorite feature in Lychee?

"Well, I'm not a very technical guy when it comes to 3D printing. Before I started printing, I was really scared because I thought that was something super complex, so the auto support features and the section detector are life savers."

Any message for the community?

"Well, first of all, thank you guys for all the support. It really means a lot for us artists, and I just can't wait to see all your Spider-Man prints."
